Clay is a material of transformation. Shaped by hands, fire, time, and place. My work explores the raw qualities of clay and its relationship to atmospheric firings, using flame, and ash. These firings leave unpredictable, organic surfaces that record the movement of fire and reveal the inherent character of the clay body.

Landscape and environment are integral to my practice. I source and test wild clays and respond to the land through material choice, firing methods, and surface development. The natural world is not referenced symbolically, but physically embedded in the work through local materials, weathered textures, and the marks left by fire.

Experimentation drives my process and strengthens my connection to both material and place. By allowing clay, atmosphere, and chance to interact, my work balances control and spontaneity, honoring ceramic tradition while remaining open to risk and discovery.

From You to Me

Senior Show Exhibition Spring 2024

This body of work reflects and explores my learning experience and the recognition of my relationships. Each of my vessels is thrown and decorated with hand-painted floral imagery. In my childhood memories, exploring and observing nature in my parents' garden has always brought me a sense of tranquility. My work is inspired by these memories and my connection with nature.
